How Does EFT Work?

The question of how does EFT work is asked often, even by those with amazing EFT testimonials. Here is a possible scientific explanation of EFT tapping points.

What Does EFT Stand For?

The letters EFT stands for Emotional Freedom Technique.

What Is EFT?

EFT is an alternative healing energy technique developed by Gary Craig in 1993. EFT combines the science of emotions and even psychology, with the acupuncture body points that lie along the energy meridians of the body.

How Does EFT Work?

There are no double blind scientific studies showing scientifically that EFT even works! Many say that it does. There are many unexplainable forces at work beyond our understanding. EFT may utilizing one or more of those forces. And, EFT may or may not work for you.

Here is a brief overview of a possible scientific basis for EFT. The following information about how EFT works is presented as a part of a possible theory.

The human body is composed of three basic elements: Physical, emotional and spiritual. These three elements are interconnected and all influence the entire body. EFT focuses on the emotional aspect of the body.

Physically, the body is a mass of electrical impulses. This electricity flows continuously in ordered patterns called “meridians.” Both physical and emotional problems can block the energy flow through these meridians. Every stimulus, whether conscious or unconscious, physical, emotional or spiritual, influences these invisible, but powerful energy meridians. If the energy cannot freely flow along these meridians, a particular organ is affected and problems are manifested.

Tapping on the endpoints of the meridians while repeating the “reminder phrase,” instructs the brain to associate the physical stimulation of the endpoints with the meridians associated with the particular negative emotions blocking the energy flow. Simultaneously tapping on the endpoints and reminding the brain of the negative emotion that needs clearing, will instruct the subconscious mind to direct the energy flow precisely to the blocked meridian.

The subconscious mind directs the innate healing energy to overcome the causes of the negative emotions. Once the negative emotions are corrected, the body can heal itself physically.

Using EFT may be effective with nutritional therapy since the affected organs may not only need the negative emotions removed, but also to be strengthened with nutritional therapy.
