Vitamin and Mineral Information

Vitamin and mineral information is important to answer the question: What vitamins should I take? Your body craves whole, live vitamins and predigested minerals for health.

What Vitamins Should I Take?

Before delving into important but basic vitamin and mineral information, the word “vitamin” needs to be defined. According to vitamin researcher Royal Lee, vitamins are “a working process consisting of the nutrient, enzymes, coenzymes, antioxidants, and trace minerals activators.”

The answer to the above question is not so much in the recitation of the many vitamins “from A to Zinc,” but rather (and far more importantly), in the type or kinds of vitamins that you ingest for your continued and enhanced wellness.

Realizing that vitamins are far more complex than a simple pill, know that there are two basic types of vitamins:

1. Fake vitamins- These are very easy to find and are relatively inexpensive, but they do nothing for your wellness.

Maybe you don't believe me. According to a study published by the Journal American Nutraceutical Association, Winter 1999 (article starts on page 25) a total of 196 vitamin supplement products were tested. Out of the 196 supplements, only 5 were both non toxic and effective. Therefore 191 products were either toxic, ineffective or both! Just knowing that most vitamin supplements are junk is important vitamin and mineral information.

2. Whole, live vitamins- These are much harder to find--out of the 196 supplements tested only 5 passed the test. There are a few vitamin companies that strive for quality, i.e.supplements that actually work. These types of supplements contains the complete, complicated biological processes that are sometimes referred to as "raw vitamins". Only this type of vitamin product will enhance your health.

Now that you know there are two types of vitamins, I will show you how to distinguish between the two. For your information, “fake vitamins” are not labeled as such for your convenience!

“Fake vitamins,” or more accurately called, synthetic vitamins, are not vitamins at all. They are chemicals produced in a laboratory. These chemicals are designed to mimic the active past of the vitamin process. Synthetic vitamins are the most popular types of vitamins and can be found wherever vitamin products are sold. They are also the least expensive. There are perhaps thousands of companies making and selling fake vitamins and even more people buying them in an attempt to aid their health.

Here is how to know if your favorite vitamin or any vitamin is “fake.” They do have bogus names and here are three examples:

vitamin and minetal informationVitamin C is called ascorbic acid.

Vitamin E is called d-Alpha tocopheryl acetate. The Vitamin E supplement in the picture is NOT "Natural"!

Vitamin A is called retinoic acid.

The vitamins companies know that the chemicals they are producing and marketing as “vitamins” are not the real thing. Therefore, they have to identify them as chemicals, hence the bogus names.

Here is an excellent article about fake vitamins titled, “Ascorbic Acid is Not Vitamin C.” This article gives some excellent vitamin and mineral information for you the consumer.

The vitamins you should take are live, whole vitamins obtained from nature, created by plants. Don’t be fooled by fancy chemicals in pretty bottles at an inexpensive price. Nature creates genuine vitamins in vegetables and other plants. It is from the natural world that you need to first look for essential vitamin and mineral information as well as supplements.

If the sources are plants, then you know that you are most likely getting a real, live, whole-plant-sourced, nature-created vitamin product complete with plant pre-digested minerals.

Here is some more vitamin and mineral information, this time about minerals.

Mineral Information

Minerals are different from vitamins. Minerals are metals, so don’t concern yourself with searching for “live minerals.” However, the human body needs these all-important metals for life.

A few of the many vital, bodily processes dependent upon minerals are growth of both soft and hard body tissues, regulation of the nervous system, oxygen transport to the cells, maintaining a healthy heartbeat, assisting in blood clotting and regulating body fluids.

Contrary to popular opinion, the initial source of all of these vital-for-life metals is the dirt and rocks of planet Earth, not foods.

Humans don’t eat dirt and rocks— plants do. Plants happily eat and digest the mineral-rich dirt and rocks, then humans or animals eat the plants to get their mineral supplements. All minerals in food have come either directly or indirectly by the action of plants taking these important metals from the earth for their own nutritional needs. Certain plants prefer some minerals to others, resulting in these plants having higher amounts of particular minerals. For example, spinach is high in iron since it prefers the mineral iron. Humans use the list of minerals in foods to help plan a healthy diet.

If you are seeking to supplement your wellness with a mineral supplement, look for one derived either from plants or from the earth itself.

Avoid chelated minerals. Chelating a mineral means that it ischemically bound to an ion so that the mineral can enter the cell. However this process is not efficient since the absorption rate of chelated minerals is only about 50%

Here are two mineral products that are formulated for immediate and total absorption by the body:

Ionic Magnesium - This not only contains magnesium but also includes a broad range of macro and trace minerals.

Raw Calcium - This calcium is totally plant derived. It is suitable for vegans. Since the calcium has already been predigested by plants, the calcium is ready to be taken into your cells.
