Truvia Is Evil!

by Marissa
(Pennsylvania of USA)

I am a big fan of the natural herbal extract stevia. So I was elated initially when the FDA approved the concoction called Truvia. Truiva is marketed as a combination of stevia and a sugar alcohol.

I did some research and found this site about Truvia. Here it is for your information.

side-effects.owndoc.com/truvia-side-effects.html - Truvia Side Effects

I am so happy that I found this before I was adversely affected.

Truvia Poison - Re: Stevia Sweetener Health Comments
by: Anonymous

Just stick to the "Stevia" plant in the health food stores. For YEARS the government did not want to approve (FDA) this herb as a sweetner. WE have ALL been using it anyway so they decided to "OK" it but of course had to add their own poison processing to do so. Face it, our government is NOT for the people....they want to control us any way they can...damaging you with false advice, I know why many people move to other countries that WON'T PASS crap like this for their people!!! Europe BANNED sugar alcohols! The McDonalds that are there are totally different foods than the ones in the USA! SICK!
If you don't want all that sugar, cut back! But for God's sake use real foods that your body recognizes! Exercise and be self controlling! Your body thinks fake sugar is plastic so it signals your brain that you are hungry! You're going to eat more anyway, so just eat REAL foods to begin with!!

What is all the fuss about?
by: Judi

I have been using Truvia for about 2 mos. I have been through about 300 packages, using 4-6 packets per day. I have not had any of the side effects and have lost weight for my efforts. I think this product, like all others, depends on the individual person, and how their bodies react to different foods. All foods have the potential to be detrimental to someone. I personally think it's on a case by case basis. "One man's food is another man's poison". This statement came from somewhere.

Truvia is not true but false!
by: cathy

I've been off this evil product for a day know and my stomach is starting to feel a little better.

When I first started using Truvia, I thought I was using a pure stevia product. I started having stomach pain all over, bloating etc. I checked the label on the truvia pkg. to see if there was any other ingredient besides stevia. To my horror the # 1 ingredient is eryhitol! The side affects were exactly what I had been experiencing.

The commercial for the product on TV is very deceptive, it shows a giant stevia leaf with a droplet of stevia extract coming out of it ,so when I bought it at the store I thought I was getting real stevia powder!

It pays to always check your labels because merchants lie just to make a sell!

truvia is evil !!! ditto!
by: gourdgal@yahoo.com

I too was fooled by the advertisements on TV. For the last month I have been using it on my cinnamon toast. I started having stomach and back pain everyday. I never questioned that the truvia packets I bought were nothing but 100% stevia.

I decided to read the ingredient label just in case there was something else in the stevia. To my shock the #1 ingredient is erythitol!!! This is NOT stevia! You have to second guess and check your labels every time! I will from now on, lesson learned!

My side effects are pelvic pain, lower back pain, bloating and gas.

Don't Ever Try a Product Containing "Truvia"
by: Ridgecrest

I got a couple of the same symptoms mentioned on other sites (Google "truvia side effects", it's the first site listed).

Yes, got the big "D". Not to the point where I was dehydrated. Still... not so funny.

And most of all, this persistent 'metallic' taste in my mouth.

Hansen's "Lo-Cal" juice is sweetened with Truvia. I drank approximately 16 oz over 2 days. This is the end of day 2. I still have stomach cramping and this ridiculously heinous taste in my mouth.

Truvia not Honest
by: Anonymous

I think it is ironic that Truvia's slogan is "Honestly Sweet" because honest they are not. Somehow they have found a way to market their product as a stevia product when in fact it is not. Truvia is only 9/10 of 1% Rebiana and masking agent (used to cover up their bad taste profile). Rebiana is not an ingredient in the stevia plant, nor is it found in nature. It is produced by the action of chemicals and stringent alcohols on various stevia glycosides. The FDA "No Questions" letter states that Rebiana contains residues of ethanol and methanol. It is commonly confused with Rebaudioside A (Reb A), which is diferent than Rebiana. Reb A is one of the 11 glycoside compounds in the stevia leaf, is produced naturally within the leaf by the action of sunlight on the leaves, and is about 400 times sweeter than sugar. Rebiana is simply the trade name Cargill gave their chemically derived product (Truvia) in 2008.

The other 99.1% of Truvia is erythritol, a sugar alcohol which they derive from sugar taken from corn. Cargill has reported that 30% of their corn is geneticially modified organisms (GMOs). It's safe to say that the side-effects that people are complaining about is most likely from the high concentration of their erythritol their product.

I have no idea how they have found a way to market their erythritol product as stevia.
